A
revolution in broadcast audio, Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) uses digital transmission
to eliminate the hiss, crackle and fade associated with conventional analogue
radio signals. Part of the highly successful DRX range of DAB tuners, the DRX-602ES
shares the no compromise hi-fi design and advanced PAC. technology of the universally
acclaimed DRX-601ES and adds dual-band capability, enabling it to be used wherever
DAB is broadcast.
Standardised in 1995 the Eureka 147 DAB standard has now been adopted throughout
Europe and in Canada, Australia, India and China and is broadcast to a potential
audience of over 230 million people worldwide.
In addition to incredible hi-fi audio quality, DAB provides a number of features
not available via analogue FM. Digital radio is broadcast as groups of data
called multiplexes which contain a number of stations, each station made up
of a primary service and an optional secondary service providing additional
unique-to-digital material. All stations have labels which enable you to select
them by name and broadcasters can providescrolling text for additional information
such as newsupdates, sports results and programme information.
Designed to complement your hi-fi separates system, either as an additional
input source to your amplifier or as a companion to an existing FM radio tuner,
the DRX-602ES has a high-sensitivity RF tuner module, high-performance DSP processor,
24-bit 96 kHz stereo delta sigma DAC and a low-noise toroidal transformer power
supply.
