For the best value from a digital radio tuner, look no further than the EVOKE-1.
Hi-Fi News, July 2003

The EVOKE-1 radio has probably done more to promote DAB to the public than all the other specialist units combined. Costing just £99 and launched in time for last Christmas, the EVOKE-1 provided access to new DAB stations, for any room in the house, in an attractive package, all for under £100. And thanks to its single drive unit without tweeter, it doesn’t sound as spitty as DAB often does.

It’s eminently easy to use via its simple tune and volume controls, with six preset stations to hand. The single speaker only gives mono but an ST-1 extension box is available to expand to stereo. A new version suffixed Elgar, a cosmetic variation on the first model using a white-out-of-blue LCD display and lacquered cherry wood veneer. On the back is a useful selection of connectors - 3.5mm sockets for headphones, the auxillary speaker, and a fixed line-level output. Power comes from a wallplug adaptor which plugs into a 12v DC socket.

For the best value from a digital radio tuner, look no further than the EVOKE-1.

  • Outstanding midrange 3" drive unit
  • Ported for bass enhancement

Please note that EVOKE-1 Elgar and the ST-1 auxiliary speaker are constructed using real wood veneer. As with all natural wood products, some variation in colour is to be expected.
