Solving the problem

1. Make sure your system is set up correctly

If you're having a problem with the Test feature or sound isn't coming out how you think it should, it may simply be because you have DigiTheatre DTS incorrectly set up.

The following checklist has been developed to catch most problems within minutes. Go through it now to maximise your chances of solving the problem very quickly.

If you haven't made DigiTheatre DTS work properly yet...

The first, crucial check is to make sure everything is connected correctly. Go through the user guide now and make sure this is so, otherwise no other checks will work either.

If you have had it working properly before but it isn't working properly now...

On the DVD player:

  • Make sure the movie itself hasn't defaulted to Pro Logic. Some titles do this, which will not decode properly if you have set DigiTheatre DTS Decoder for a digital surround sound format.

On DigiTheatre DTS:

  • Check the Input Type. Make sure you have DigiTheatre DTS set to the correct input type, whether Digital Coaxial, Digital Optical, or Analog.

  • Check the Input Mode. If you are playing from a surround sound source make sure you have the correct Input Mode selected (not a Stereo mode). If you are playing from a stereo source, make sure you have a Stereo mode selected. For an analog stereo source, you can also select Pro Logic.

  • Make sure Mute isn't on. If it's flashing, no sound will come out until you press Mute again.

2. Make sure you have the latest version of the user guide

If you don't have the latest user guide, download it now before going through the steps below, in Acrobat PDF format v3.

The user guide describes the theory and practice of surround sound, how to connect and position the speakers, how to use DigiTheatre DTS, and takes you through troubleshooting and technical support.
