The digital audio broadcast (DAB) transmission standard provides high-quality,
interference-free digital audio without the hiss, crackle and fade that occurs
with traditional analogue FM/AM broadcasts. DAB radios are easy to tune, automatically
selecting the strongest regional transmitter, and are virtually immune to the
multipath distortion that affects traditional FM radios.
Wide Range of Stations
There are many more digital than there are FM stations. UK national radio services
broadcast digitally include BBC Radios 1 to 4, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio 5
Live Sports Plus, BBC World Service, BBC Radio 4 Longwave Service, Classic FM,
talkSPORT, and Virgin Radio. Over 60 digital stations are available in total
including local stations such as Heart 106.2, Jazz FM, Capital Radio and unique-to-digital
stations such as Oneword, Passion for the Planet and 3C.

Latest DAB Features
LCD display shows additional data supplied by the broadcaster such as the station
name and programme description, or scrolling text that provides information
on the music playing, programme summaries, news headlines or sports results.
Maximum Connectivity
Connectors include coaxial and optical digital audio outputs, analogue audio
output and analogue stereo input for portable CD player, MiniDisc player, etc.
Additional Receiver Data Interface (RDI) optical digital output supports future
reception of text, graphics and video for decode and display via an RDI-enabled
PC or digital set-top box.
High Performance Design
With its high-sensitivity RF tuner front-end, high-performance DSP, 24-bit 96
kHz stereo DAC, low-noise toroidal power supply and PAC technology for outstandingly
natural sound, the DRX-601EX combines hi-fi performance with portability and
great looks. The DRX-601EX features a real wood veneer case (available in maple
or cherry finishes), inlaid aluminium control panel, cool blue LED indicators,
and an easy to read blue/white display.

With a high-quality stereo amplifier system driving two hi-fi speakers with
concentric high frequency tweeters the DRX-601EX delivers quality as yet unheard
