Reception was crystal clear and interference-free.
Computer Buyer, April 2001

Videologic's new digital radio is a conventional alternative to the Psion WaveFinder. Reception is excellent and it’s easy to use.

VideoLogic has now entered the fray with its own digital radio, the DRX-601E. The sleek black styling of the DRX-601E is very much in keeping with conventional hi-fi. Indeed it wouldn't look at all out of place in your hi-fi stack which is where it's intended to belong.

Setting up is simple. Just attach the DAB (digital audio broadcasting) antenna, hit the Auto tune button and it’ll start scanning the airwaves for digital radio stations. The DRX-6OlE picked up a whole set of BBC radio stations alongside commercial ones like Classic FM and Virgin. Additionally, I managed to listen to digital-only stations like Core, which can’t be received on a AM/FM radio. Unlike AM/FM analogue broadcasts the reception was crystal clear and interference-free - just as claimed. The beauty of DAB is that it's impervious to the tall buildings and weather conditions that distort conventional radio broadcasts.

A massive array of connectors round the back. Indeed, it's quite possible to link the VideoLogic, via a high quality optical digital link, to a hi-fi CD recorder,. and copy CD quality music direct from air. The VideoLogic DRX 601E really is a very different animal from the Psion WaveFinder. WaveFinder is aimed squarely at the PC radio ham. Indeed, it’s dead as a doornail without a USB-equipped computer. The DRX 601E on the other hand brings digital radio and all Its benefits into the living room and at a very affordable price
