Its sleek silver body and sensational sound quality make it a must for radio purists and hi-tech junkies alike. Time Out, June 2001
The DAB Digital Radio Tuner DRX-601ES from VideoLogic is deeply stylish, and is priced to make the joys of digital listening affordable. It has a silver anodized aluminum front panel, blue LED indicators to tell you what you’re listening to (station, programme, sometimes even the track you’re hearing). Then there’s the PAC audio-optimisation technology which claims to offer a more natural sound. And all this for £349.99, when rivals might charge twice this. It has a fast auto-tune facility and nine presets accessible from the remote control, and you play it through your hi-fi amplifier. Analogue radio signals suffers from interference from tall buildings or the weather. Digital radio selects the strongest regional transmitter and uses obstacles as reflectors to prevent break-ups. That’s how it’s supposed to work, although actually I suspect it’s magic. If you value your ears, get one.
