The sound quality is superb. FOCUS, May 2003
PURE’s entry-level radio steals a march on its competitors by being the first sub £100 model on the market. Its design reflects an earlier age too.
There may be no extras included, but otherwise the set performs admirably. The built-in antenna provides a good signal, and is upgradeable if your reception is particularly poor. The sound quality is superb, giving a rich, warm tone while retaining vocal clarity. It was easily the best-sounding radio in our test, despite its single speaker.
The controls on the front of the radio are a joy to use, and make it incredibly easy to get started. The LED display gives all the information you need - by default it shows the station name and current programme or track information. Click the Display button to reveal other details, including the quality of transmission in Kbps. Two dials enable you to alter the volume or move between stations one at a time - you use the dial to select your station and press it to skip to it. You can easily add six preset stations using the number pad. You just press and hold the desired number and the current station is added. All in all it’s a very simple experience.
