Rich, crystal clear sound. Birmingham Evening Mail, July 2001
The retro-looks of this portable radio belie its up to the minute technology.
It was the first digital to plunge below the £100 price barrier and has been flying off the shelves ever since.
With its maple-wood surround it’s compact enough to sit on a kitchen shelf and simple to use with a clean, fuss-free control panel featuring six station presets.
Its integrated full range hi-fi speaker and reflex port for enhanced bass performance produce a rich, crystal clear sound.
The EVOKE-1’s success has inspired a special edition called the EVOKE-1 Elgar at £119. The styling’s the same, but the mobile phone black on green scrolling text is replaced by the crisp, sharp white on blue dot matrix display much loved in higher end hi-fi, all in a white-fronted, rich, cherry wood box.
