Looking at the Tempus-1, you might think we should have included it in our portable section. However, it can't run on batteries - essential to our definition of 'portable' - and more pertinently is sold by PURE as a 'bedside radio'. Why specifically a bedside radio? Because it features a sleep timer, programmable alarms and our favourite bit, a 'Snoozehandle' which you just have to touch when the alarm's ringing to enjoy a few more moments of precious shut-eye. The Tempus-1 also features digital and analogue outputs so you can connect it to your Hi-Fi, and a recording timer for storing programmes to Mini-Disc or CD burner
