Digital radio is on the move, thanks to VideoLogic’s funky new portable DAB tuner. Stuff, December 2001
Portable Tunes
Up until now, in order to enjoy the crystal-clear quality of a digital audio broadcast you’ve needed a boring, black box separates system, confining your listening pleasure to the living room. VideoLogic, however, has changed all that. The first portable DAB tuner with in-built speakers, it’s happy in any room and the retro-futurist styling makes it nothing short of a design masterpiece.
Added Benefits
Sound quality isn’t the only benefit of DAB. Digital broadcasts can carry much more information than FM or MW, allowing for added - mainly text-based-services. The cool, indigo-lit LCD screen provides track listings, news, weather and traffic information, or whatever else a station chooses to digitally broadcast. Auto-tuning is lightning fast and a discrete remote control allows access to nine station presets.
Options Open
As befits a high-end hi-fi product, there’s a full collection of input and output options. There’s coaxial and optical digital-out, phono out and phono in, so you can play MiniDisc or portable CD players through the twin 10W speakers. The second option port is a Receiver Data Interface (RDI) for future expansion and PC connectivity.
